Bursaries & Scholarships
The Community Foundation of Portage and District has opportunities for students to access funding to help cover their costs to pursue a post-secondary education.
2023 Bursary Application - Deadline to Submit Application May 12, 2023
Bursaries available from the Community Foundation of Portage & District include:
Dr. Donald William Rae Memorial Bursary - $1,200
To assist one student each year who is currently registered or accepted in any year of studies in Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Medicine or Medical Rehabilitation including, without limitation, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Respiratory Therapy.
Dr. Harvey Hassard Memorial Bursary - 2 x $1,485
To assist two students each year who are currently accepted or registered in any year of studies in Pharmacy, Laboratory Technology, Radiology, Dentistry, Medicine or Medical Rehabilitation including, without limitation, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Respiratory Therapy.
Lorraine Rae Bursary Fund - $1,475
To assist one student each year who is currently registered or accepted in any year of studies in the field of Education.
Portage la Prairie Community Development Corporation Bursary - $1,435
To assist one student each year who is currently accepted or enrolled at a Canadian University or College who is pursuing a degree/diploma in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or Administrative Studies.
Jody Lee Fulton Memorial Bursary - $3,095
To assist one student from Central Manitoba each year pursuing a commercial pilot license.
Commercial Pilot Training Criteria: The student must be currently registered or accepted in a recognized school of studies in a program providing training that will result in a commercial pilot license. Recipient may be but not limited to high school graduates in Central Manitoba.
Russ Denton Memorial Bursary - $1,310
To assist one student each year who is currently registered or accepted in any year of post-secondary education.
Don & Lois Booth Memorial Bursary - $500
To assist one student each year who is enrolled or accepted at a Canadian University or College with a demonstrated commitment to peace, social justice and a history of community service or involvement.
Portage & Rural MS Support Bursary - $300
To annually assist one student whose life has been affected by MS either personally, or in the family, and/or is pursuing an education in the Science or Medical field.
Chuck Young Natural Resource Management Memorial Scholarship - $250
To assist one student pursuing a career in the field of Natural Resource Management at a post-secondary institute within Canada. Applicants must demonstrate a strong desire for the outdoors, the environment, and to pass knowledge on to others through mentorship.
Bill & Cathy Skyhar Bursary Fund - $855
To assist one or more students each year who have experienced the death of one or more of their parents and are continuing their education through post-secondary schools or trades training.
