Henry & Grace Vust Memorial Fund

Henry and Grace VustHenry and Grace Vust were born in Lyon County, Iowa, both of German decent. They were married in 1921 and farmed on the Vust home farm. Their twelve children were born in the United States.

An adventurous spirit and the prospect of purchasing additional land led Henry to explore Western Canada in 1945. He selected the Portage area for it's fertile soil, favourable climate and friendly community. He purchased 800 acres of farmland and the entire family immigrated in the spring of 1947. Henry continued to farm here all of his working life and with the blessing of God and the help of his family, saw the operation expand to 3000 acres.

Henry Vust, like the biblical farmer Job, feared God and eschewed evil and to their parents' memory, the twelve Vust children established an undesignated name fund The Henry and Grace Vust Memorial Fund. As a Millennium Project, the Vust family pooled their dollars and started the fund with an initial contribution of $5,360. They hope that the benefits will enrich lives in the community as their parents enriched theirs.
