Gilbert Vust Fund

Gilbert VustGilbert Vust is a very successful farmer who lived and farmed most of his life in the Portage area. He is a man who truly loves and appreciates his community and over the years has given generously of his time, experience and dollars. Gilbert is a great supporter of his church, the Fort la Reine Museum and the Community Foundation of Portage and District.

Through his generosity, the Fort la Reine Museum has the largest collection of Allis Chalmers tractors and farm equipment in North America. He was responsible for putting Portage on the map by bringing the "Gathering of the Orange" event to the Museum last August 2004.

This philanthropist has enthusiastically supported the Community Foundation from its inception by becoming a Founding Member in 1994. As an incentive to others to be recognized for their contributions, Gilbert was encouraged to take the accumulative donations and establish a fund in his name, "The Gilbert Vust Fund"
