Portage la Prairie Mutual Insurance Company Fund
In May 2004, the Portage la Prairie Mutual Insurance Company became the first corporation to establish a named fund, "The Portage la Prairie Mutual Insurance Company Fund."
The Mutual had a landmark year and to celebrate made donations to a few organizations, the Community Foundation of Portage and District was one and received a gift of $10,000. To create the Fund, the dollars were added to the $7,000 the Company has invested in the organization since it was set up 10 years ago. The Portage Mutual president Tom McCartney said the Foundation is a natural choice as the company was one of which helped establish the Foundation in 1994 by becoming a member of the Founders Club. McCartney said, "We believe in the work of the Foundation."
The Portage la Prairie Mutual Insurance Company Fund is an "Undesignated Fund" that may be changed to a "Field of Interest" Fund or a "Scholarship or Bursary" Fund at a future date.
