David and Sandra Falk Family Fund
Dave and Sandra Falk have been supporters of the Community Foundation of Portage and District (CFPD) since its inception, when the call went out to the community to provide matching dollars to meet the challenge put forth by The Thomas Sill Foundation. There was no hesitation; Dave and Sandra joined the Founders Club in 1994.
Both Dave and Sandra are true philanthropists and serve the community through their volunteer work with a number of organizations.
In 1997, Dave joined our Board and served for six years taking on various executive positions. He was Treasurer for one year, President for three and Past President for one. Dave believes that if you are involved in an organization, you should also back it up by supporting it financially. "In my involvement with the Foundation," said Dave, "I realized how these gifts influenced and benefitted so many people in all aspects of our community."
Sandra is deeply involved in Trinity United Church. She has and continues to serve on a number of committees. She also volunteers one day a week at the MCC Thrift Shop.
Dave and Sandra have been continuous supporters of CFPD and, this year, they decided to create our first family named fund, "The David and Sandra Falk Family Fund." Their accumulative donations of $16,700 to date have been put toward the fund. "Dave and I realized that the Foundation Named Funds was a perfect fit for us in our desire to return gifts to our community through our lifetime and after," said Sandra. "This community has offered us a safe place to raise our family, support for our business and many personal friendships. By establishing a named family fund we hope to make a point of how giving is such an important part of our family life, whether it be with time, talent or treasure. We hope that future generations of our family will continue to support the Foundation through this fund."
