Portage la Prairie Lions Club Fund
The Portage Lions Club Treasurer Ray George presents a cheque to CFPD’s Treasurer John Chapman while Lions Club President Tom Street, Secretary Al Lightfoot and CFPD’s President Vernon Crandell sign the official documents to establish the Portage la Prairie Lions Club Fund.
“The $50,000 used to establish CFPD’s first Donor Advised Fund was an accumulation of dollars the Lions Club raised over time.” said Tom Street, “The Club wanted to do something special with the money and after much research decided to start a named fund with CFPD.” Vern Crandell stated: “The Lions Club wishes to have an input in the decision regarding the recipients of the interest income generated from their gift to CFPD. On an annual basis, CFPD will inform the Club the amount available for distribution.” The Lions Advisory Committee will recommend the intended recipient organizations. CFPD will honour the donor’s wishes as long as the recipients are registered charitable organization with Revenue Canada. Each year the Lions Club and CFPD will jointly present the grants.
The Portage la Prairie Lions Club Fund will be an open Fund and anyone can donate to the fund at any time to help build it. All donations must be made out to the Community Foundation of Portage and District and donors will receive an official tax receipt.
