Carl McGregor Bursary Fund
Carl McGregor spent 40 years in farming and 15 years working with the University of Manitoba. He was a generous supporter of Portage and surrounding areas and wished to help others enter the agricultural field. For more than a decade Carl has sponsored $800 bursaries each year at the Portage Collegiate Institute, Arthur Meighen High School, MacGregor Collegiate Institute and Neepawa Collegiate. The schools represent communities that have been important throughout his life. The funds support students pursuing post secondary studies in agriculture and plant science.
The McGregor Bursary Fund was managed by a Winnipeg Investment firm until they decided to get out of the bursary business. It was then that Carl decided to move the fund to the Portage Foundation's care. Carl was a great supporter of the Foundation from the start being a founding member and having a named fund, the "H.C. (Carl) McGregor Fund."
