The Community Foundation of Portage and District President Vern Crandell and Treasurer John Chapman met with Portage School Division Superintendent Larry Taylor and Finance Neill Corrigan to sign 10 Fund Agreements on Tuesday, December 2, 2008.

The School Board Chairperson Charles Morrison is pleased with the transfer of the awards, scholarship and bursary funds to the care of the Community Foundation. He said “this is a positive move, noting the Division likes to partner with local organizations.” President Crandell says he is thrilled with the transfer. He stated that CFPD has the responsibility of looking after a variety of named funds within the permanent Endowment Fund for individuals, families and businesses. The 10 awards valued at about $159,000 will be added to the Endowment Fund and to the list of 16 funds that already support awards, bursaries and scholarships. The criteria set at the time of the creation of the awards by family members and friends remain the same. Those involved have been informed of the transfer to CFPD. The cash value of the awards has been adjusted to meet the 3.5% disbursement quote set by Canada Revenue Agency.
