Portage Arts Centre adds the Peter Ward Bursary to PDAC Bursary Fund

PDAC Executive Director Jean Armstrong, President Doug Halmarson and Kevin and Chris Ward presented a cheque for $4,500 to CFPD Chair Barney Christianson (centre) to create the Peter Ward Bursary.

Donations received by the Portage & District Arts Centre (PDAC) in memory of Peter Ward are being added to the PDAC Bursary Fund at the Community Foundation of Portage and District Inc (CFPD).  CFPD Chair Barney Christianson accepts a cheque for $4600 from PDAC President Doug Halmarson, Peter Ward’s son Kevin and nephew Chris Ward.

Peter Ward died at the age of 92 on March 24, 2012. He grew up at Delta, was a pilot in the Air Force, first as a pilot instructor in Davidson, SK, and then as a Squadron leader stationed in York, England.  After the World War II Peter lived the rest of his life surrounded by the Delta Marsh, and was instrumental in the development of Delta Waterfowl and Wetlands Research station.  He and his life’s work of paintings attests to how much he loved, understood and appreciated this area.
