The Community Foundation of Portage and District Inc have six opportunities for students to access funding to help cover their costs to pursue a post secondary education. If you are seeking a career in business, education, medical care or aviation please apply by clicking on the link below.
[Bursary Applications]General Criteria
- A graduate of a Portage la Prairie district high school.
- Currently registered, or accepted, in any year of studies in education, business or medical care
- Consistently strong academic performance.
- Personal characteristics that exhibit compassion, integrity, service to the community, and leadership.
- Financial need.
Bursaries available:
MEDICAL CAREDr. Donald William Rae Memorial Bursary To assist one student each year in pursuit of a career in Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Medicine or Medical Rehabilitation including without limitations, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Respiratory Therapy. Value $1000
Dr. Harvey Hassard Memorial Bursary To assist two students each year in pursuit of a career in Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Medicine or Medical Rehabilitation including without limitations, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Respiratory Therapy. There are two $1000 bursaries to award.
EDUCATION
Lorraine Rae Bursary Fund To assist one student each year pursuing a career in the field of Education. Value $800.
Samuel Davidson received the Portage Community Development
Corporation Bursary in June 2011. Davidson is attending the
Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba.
Portage la Prairie Community Development Corporation Bursary. To assist one student each year in pursuit of post secondary education in one of the following areas of study: Business; Management; Accounting. Value $1000.
AVIATION
Jody Lee Fulton Memorial Bursary To assist one student from Central Manitoba each year pursuing a commercial pilot license. Value $1000.
Bursaries will be awarded at our 2011 Annual Report Presentation on June 11, 2012.
